Code of conduct

We are dedicated to creating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment. We are striving for accessible and welcoming spaces for people of all races, genders, classes, abilities, ages, cultures, religions and sexualities. By filling in this form and joining the slack group, you are also accountable to these commitments.

Mutual respect must be the basis of interaction among New Democrats in addition to cooperation and understanding. We will neither tolerate nor condone behaviours that are likely to undermine the dignity of an individual or a group, or create an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment.

“Harassment” means: Engaging in a course of comment or conduct that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome.

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • name-calling, jokes and innuendos or behaviours that demean, humiliate or intimidate;
  • sexually suggestive comments or gestures;
  • the display of offensive imagery or symbols; and
  • abuse/misuse of technology which would make another feel uncomfortable

If you witness or experience harassment, please inform a member of the campaign leadership team (Laëtitia Eyssartel, Kate Fane, Francis Kung, Amy Lester). If you are not comfortable approaching this team, you can also contact Jess Cordeiro on the volunteer engagement team.
