General Meeting for Canada's NDP Convention 2026

Canada's NDP Convention 2026 will take place in Winnpeg, MB, from March 27-29, 2026.

To discuss and vote on policy resolutions and select our Delegates, the Taiaiako'n—Parkdale—High Park NDP is holding a general meeting of its members on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 6pm – 8pm.

This meeting will take place online, and the link will be sent to those who have RSVPed and their membership confirmed.

Taiaiako'n—Parkdale—High Park has a long tradition of sending a large and diverse group of Delegates to Convention to debate new ideas and policy, hear from inspiring guest speakers, and take part in exciting training sessions.

We especially encourage those who have never attended Convention before to join us!

What happens at Convention?

Canada's NDP will release a full, detailed agenda closer to Convention, but it will include:

  • discussion and adoption of policy resolutions;
  • training sessions to improve our skills as activists ahead of the election;
  • election of Canada's NDP Table Officers and Federal Executive;
  • reports from various Executives, committees, and bodies; and
  • announcement of the new federal leader.

What accessibility measures will be at Convention?

The RBC Convention Centre is a fully accessible venue, with accessible entrances, washrooms, and designated seating available in the main plenary room. When registering for Convention, please indicate any accessibility requirements so we can ensure appropriate accommodations are in place.

NDP members in Taiaiako'n—Parkdale—High Park will elect Delegates to represent us at Convention at our virtual general membership meeting on Wednesday, January 21 at 6 pm.

BIPOC, persons living with disabilities, youth, Franco-Ontarians, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities are highly encouraged to attend as Delegates, and the Taiaiako'n—Parkdale—High Park is committed to ensuring our delegation reflects the diversity of our riding and to ensure a variety of voices are representing us. At least 50% of our Delegates must be women, trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals.

If you are interested in attending Convention, please nominate yourself using this form.

Delegate nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the general membership meeting.

If you would like to attend Convention, but cannot attend the local meeting on January 21, please indicate your interest using this form and someone will nominate you.

To be eligible to stand for election as a Delegate, you must be an NDP member in good standing. If you have questions about your membership status, please email [email protected].

What are the Convention fees?

  • Early Bird Delegate: $349
  • Unwaged Delegate: $149
  • Youth Delegate (26 or under): $99
  • Regular Delegate: $399
  • Observers: $1750

Taiaiako'n—Parkdale—High Park NDP believes that cost should not be a barrier to attending Convention, and offers financial assistance to elected Convention Delegates who would not otherwise be able to attend. For questions or requests, please contact [email protected]

If I’m an elected Delegate, how will I register?

All Delegates elected in January will later receive an EasyCode by email that will allow you to register for the Convention.

What is a resolution?

Resolutions can:

  • Amend or delete existing policy from the policy book
  • Add new policy from the policy book
  • Amend the Party Constitution
  • Direct the Party to take a specific action (e.g. run a campaign, research an issue, develop a policy)
  • Have the Party make a statement on an on-going event or issue

You may wish to consult with the current federal policy book before drafting resolutions.

What is the format of a resolution?

  • Keep the “Whereas Clause” to no more than 100 words. “Whereas Clauses” simply set up a rationale for adopting a particular policy/amendment/direction; they do not constitute the policy/amendment/direction itself
  • The “Be it Resolved” section must be short and concise and under 100 words — this is the section which constitutes the policy/amendment/direction
  • See the full guide to writing resolutions

How can I submit a resolution for consideration?

Before resolutions can be submitted to Convention, they must be passed at a General Meeting of our local electoral district association.

If you wish to submit a resolution for consideration, complete this form by January 11, 2026 at 11:59pm.

What resolutions will be discussed at our local meeting on January 21?

We will compile resolutions and circulate them ahead of our meeting on January 21. The Chair of the meeting may combine similar motions, rule duplicative motions out of order, and will create an agenda that outlines the order in which motions will be considered for the meeting on January 21.

If you have any other questions, please email [email protected].
