We need action to address colonialism and systemic anti-Indigenous racism in our institutions

Egerton Ryerson was an architect of the residential school system that has long devastated Indigenous peoples. Join us in supporting calls from Indigenous students and educators – including the Yellowhead Institute – to rename Ryerson University and remove his statue from campus.

As we stand with Indigenous folks and grieve 215 children who never returned home from a residential school in Kamloops, it is vital that the ongoing process of addressing colonial structures, symbols, and institutions is Indigenous-led. Let’s take immediate action to dismantle colonialism, and systemic anti-Indigenous racism here in Ontario.
